This time tomorrow, I'll be on the road heading towards Tabletop Scotland.
I’ve pretty much been preparing for this one ever since MCM Birmingham. There have been plenty of other events in between, obviously, but TTS has been sitting there in the background as the one I’ve been working towards.
It’s probably my favourite show of the year.
For me it gets the balance just right. It’s busy, but not so ridiculously busy that I spend the entire weekend with my head down taking payments and barely speaking to anyone.
That means I actually get a chance to talk to people. I can catch up with suppliers, meet independent creators, look at new products and have the sort of conversations that are almost impossible at some of the bigger comic cons.
I’ll even get to meet one of the players from my regular online D&D game in person for the first time. We’ve only been playing together for over two years, so it’s probably about time. I just hope he’s nothing like his character.
There’ll be plenty of new and restocked stuff on the BlueCyborg stand too. I’ve got the Backpack of Holding I’ve been developing, new caps, new badges, miniatures and, obviously, far too many RPG dice.
I’ll also finally be getting my hands on the latest two books in the Adventurer’s Apprentice series, which I’ve been waiting to get onto the shelves.
I’m trying to keep the stand a little more sensible this time as well. Ayrshire last weekend reminded me that I don’t actually need to take every single thing I own to an event just because somebody might possibly want it.
Whether I remember that when I start loading the van is another matter.
There’s still plenty to finish before the doors open, but this is the one I’ve been looking forward to.
