We’ve added a new paint range to BlueCyborg, and it’s one we already know well.
The Turbo Dork paint range is now live on our website and ready to browse, with purchasing opening as soon as our incoming stock arrives. This is a new range for us to stock, but one I'm very familiar with and one you'll have seen used on some of our products.
I've been using Turbo Dork paints on our own products for some time now, most notably on the Nap 20 Dice Guardians, where their metallic and colour-shift finishes really shine.

The Nap 20 Dice Guardians are a great example of where Turbo Dork paints excel.
We use Turbo Dork metallics and colour-shift paints on these pieces because:
- The finishes remain visually striking under normal indoor lighting
- Colour-shift effects are still noticeable without needing dramatic photography
- Metallic coverage is strong and consistent on textured surfaces
These are not display-only finishes, they’re paints I’ve tested on real products that get handled, packed, and used at the table.
What Is Turbo Dork?
Turbo Dork is a specialist miniature paint manufacturer best known for their colour-shift and high-impact metallic acrylic paints. They’re designed specifically for models and miniatures, producing finishes that change depending on lighting and viewing angle.
Rather than aiming for muted or ultra-realistic effects, Turbo Dork focuses on bold, saturated colours intended to stand out on the tabletop.
All Turbo Dork paints are:
- Water-based acrylics
- Suitable for brush and airbrush use
- Formulated specifically for miniature and model painting
Why We’re Confident Stocking Turbo Dork
Before committing to stocking the range, we’d already been using Turbo Dork paints in production. That hands-on experience matters.
Using them on the Nap 20 Dice Guardians allowed me to assess:
- How the paints behave over dark basecoats
- Consistency across batches
- Visual impact outside of studio lighting
That real-world use is a big part of why we’re comfortable recommending them to customers.
What Makes Turbo Dork Different?
The most distinctive part of the range is TurboShift, colour-shift paints that transition between multiple colours depending on viewing angle. Applied over a dark basecoat (typically black or very dark grey), they create effects that are difficult to replicate with standard metallics.
Alongside TurboShift, the range also includes:
- Bright, saturated metallic paints
- Unusual colour choices not common in most paint lines
- Finishes well suited to sci-fi, fantasy, vehicles, and centrepiece models
