The party ventured deep into the cavern, their torches casting eerie shadows on the rough stone walls. Suddenly, a low hissing sound caught their attention, and they froze in their tracks. Peering into the darkness, they caught sight of a slithering form - a basilisk, its eyes gleaming with a deadly light. The adventurers knew they had to act quickly; even a glance from the creature could turn them to stone. The rogue darted forward, dagger drawn, while the wizard chanted a spell of fire. The basilisk lunged, jaws snapping, but the fighter stood ready with his shield. It was a fierce battle, but in the end, the creature lay dead, its deadly gaze forever extinguished. The party breathed a sigh of relief and pressed on, ready for whatever else lay ahead in this treacherous underworld.
